Katherine, Age 45

“When I first  started working with Bethany, I was recovering from a miscarriage and struggling with emotional issues. This year, I conceived and bore a beautiful baby boy! She  used herbs and acupuncture to help me with fertility, pregnancy, pre and  postpartum issues. It wasn?t just the medicine; it was her warm, loving presence  that made the difference.”

Monica S., Mar Vista

“I came to Bethany in agony  after a root canal procedure. After her acupuncture treatment my pain was reduced to almost nonexistent, and best of all, I didn't have to take any painkillers. I was truely amazed. This is the best thing to do after dental work!”

Anon, Santa Monica

“I first came  to Bethany with a stubborn and problematic inflamed shoulder which was more and  more restricting the use of my right/dominant arm. As a physician, I was skeptical that acupuncture would reverse a deteriorating condition which required medications. In a consistent, caring and healing manner, Bethany eventually turned the situation around. She is not only good at what she does, but also, has a healing touch which promotes a restorative space. I now dub her:  Bethany the Heavenly.”

What to Expect at the Initial Visit
The first visit usually lasts 1-1/2  hours. During this visit we discuss your current health problem and your health  history, including dietary and nutritional concerns and western pharmaceuticals that you may currently be taking. There is plenty of time to answer all of your questions and concerns. We discuss a Acupuncture room in our officetreatment plan and any exercise and  lifestyle changes that may be indicated. An initial acupuncture treatment is given and an herbal formula is created that is specific for your particular constitution.

Follow up visits
These visits last for 45 minutes to one hour. During this time a follow up consultation and acupuncture is given. Herbal formulas are adjusted for effectiveness. Questions and concerns are always addressed.

Do the needles hurt?
Acupuncture needles are as thin as human hair and when expertly inserted are usually painless. Occasionally there may be a small sensation that quickly fades. The acupuncture session  usually induces a feeling of deep relaxation that quickly overcomes any feelings of discomfort.

What are the needles doing?

Acupuncture needlesThe acupuncture needles are placed into specific points on pathways called meridians, through which our body’s Qi energy flows. These meridians travel all over the body and connect with our internal organs. Acupuncture needles regulate this flow of Qi to remove blockages wherever they occur. When the Qi energy can move freely along the meridians, symptoms are eliminated and health and vitality return.

Are the herbs safe and will they interact with my prescriptions?
The herbs that we use are pharmaceutical grade and are rigorously tested for contaminants. All drug and herb interactions are carefully considered before giving a patient an herbal formula.Chinese Herbs Cabinet We create herbal formulas specifically for each patient, always keeping that person’s constitution and needs as our primary consideration.

What about male fertility issues?
Often couples  come to the office for help with achieving pregnancy. It can be one of both that  need treatment to acheive that goal. Sometimes the man may discover that his sperm count is low or that the sperm are not formed properly which will reduce  the chances of success. Acupuncture and herbal formulas along with dietary and lifestyle guidance can help to correct this situation.

What is micro-current facial rejuvenation?
Micro-current is a safe, very small electrical current that is similar to and compatible with our body’s own electrical current. It boosts cellular metabolism and increases your body’s production of collagen and elastin. It works by increasing the flow of qi and blood to the face which nourishes and moistens the skin. It can reduce fine lines, improve the elasticity and texture of the skin, improve facial muscle tone to reduce sagging, reduce under eye puffiness and the appearance of drooping eyelids. Optimal results come after 12 treatments done over a period of 6 weeks. Acupuncture, herbs and dietary support can be added to treatments to enhance results.
