In a randomized controlled trial extending over 6 months, researchers concluded that aacupuncture works for treatment of migraine headaches, and that it is more effective in the first months of therapy compared to the migraine drug flunarizine. This is good news for migraine sufferers and especially since acupuncture works without the side effect of drugs.

I have treated patients for years for headaches and migraine with great success. In a recent case my patient came in with chronic migraines. She would have 2-3 a week even while using medication. After one treatment we reduced the frequency of her migraines to one per week. These were then controlled without use of medication. After successive weekly treatments her
frequency of headaches have been reduced to two in the last month. With ongoing treatment I feel certain that her migraines will become infrequent and eventually disappear.

I have treated others with a similar response. With only periodic treatments after the initial weekly treatments, most people can become migraine free.
